UAL Awarding Body L3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Performing Arts
The Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts is a practical industry based course designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the performing arts. Our ethos is to train you to build a range of transferable skills for a wide range of employment opportunities within the performing arts. Consequently students experience a rich learning environment gaining practical skills from industry professionals and students who have left us and are now studying at some of the worlds most acclaimed drama schools. Our network enables students to gain experience working in a wider range of professional stage and film productions giving constant opportunity to further develop confidence and talent within any sphere.
Entry requirements: Four A-C’s in GCSE. A GCSE in Drama, Dance or BTEC L2 is preferable but not essential. You will be invited to an interview and audition where we can assess your suitability for the course.
UAL Awarding Body L2 Diploma in Performing Arts.
The UAL Awarding Body Level 2 Performing and Production Arts course is a one year course, comprising of an award and a diploma. The diploma is worth 4 GCSE’s at C/4 or above, and successful graduates of this course are invited at the end of the year to transfer onto the UAL Awarding Body Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts or Music. The course is run full time as an intensive, practical and vocational introduction to acting, performing arts and production. It is made up of a series of performance projects, including devising and scripted work, and an emphasis is placed on developing a high quality of practical acting and production skills. All staff are industry professionals, and during the course students have a chance to work with visiting professional practitioners. Students can audition for all enrichment projects.
Entry requirements: The course is perfect for students with a Grade D or below GCSE profile including English Language at grade 3/D. You will need to audition for this course.
BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Dance
You will study a whole range of dance skills and techniques, in order to give you really broad and creative dance training. All teachers have industry experience and you will also work with visiting professional artists. The course is vocationally delivered based upon the practice of the best dance Schools and you will be given a real commission for each term. The majority of the course is delivered through practical activities with some research tasks and written assignments for certain units. You will learn and perform choreographed pieces and devise exciting new work of your own. You will improve your dance technique and fitness, develop your artistic understanding of dance and have many opportunities to perform.
Entry requirements: 4 GSEs at Grade C or above.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Acting offers you the opportunity to gain substantial vocational training in the field of Performing Arts. The team of practitioners at Leyton Sixth Form College are highly experienced in their craft, all coming from a professional performance background and work extensively outside of the college. Consequently students experience a rich learning environment gaining practical skills from industry professionals, it’s not surprising that the students who have left us and are now studying at the world's most acclaimed drama schools. Our network enables students to gain experience working in a wider range of professional stage and film productions giving constant opportunity to further develop confidence and talent within any sphere. Our ethos is to train you to build a range of transferable skills for other employment opportunities. To develop high levels of confidence, self-discipline and communication aiding you to advance in a range of careers both in the private and public sectors, e.g. marketing, public relations & events management to name a few.
